Grey Matters

If you google 'holiday nail art', prepare for a bombardment of red and green glitter, stippled Santa faces and snowflakes galore. Coming from a girl who isn't exactly the ├╝ber-festive ugly Christmas sweater wearing and egg nog drinking type, these designs are far from my style. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a merry mani, I just prefer mine on the subtler side.
When Julep asked me to interpret their holiday-themed 'Deck Your Nails' manicure tutorial in my own terms, I was as jolly as can be. The look, an almost reverse French manicure, is very modern and eye-catching while still being simple and wearable. For the base of the manicure I used a light grey polish that reminds me of all the cozy grey cashmere sweaters that I love to wear during winter, and for the half-moon detail I used burgundy to incorporate a pop of classic holiday color. Which colors would you chose for your own holiday mani?

Snug as a Pug in an Ugg

Just in case the innumerable Snapchat stories of people bundled up in winter garb with icons of the current chilly temperature covering their faces haven't indicated it... Baby, it's cold outside. In light of this, my spirit animal right now is (literally) an animal: a snuggly pug in an Ugg. Since nestling into an Ugg boot for the rest of winter isn't currently an option, I plan to translate this coziness into more wearable terms. Taking cues from Carine Roitfeld dressed in Max Mara, sporting a fluffy camel coat is the perfect solution. And why not top it off with some fuzzy accessories like a shearling clutch and furry boots?
