Ballet Beautiful

American Apparel Hair Clip, J.Crew Peplum Top, Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish, Elizabeth Knight Crown Ring, See by Chloé Tiered Skirt, Repetto Ballet Flats

I've always dreamed of being a ballerina. They have such poise, grace, strength, and stunning costumes to boot. The work of the Impressionist artist Edgar Degas has deepened my admiration of ballet attire. Two of my favorite Degas pieces, La Classe De Dance and  La Petite Danseuse de Quatorze Ans feature pastels, ruffly tutus, striking black chokers, and dainty slippers that have me absolutely giddy. I love the idea of interpreting a ballet look into street wear  by swapping a tutu for a peplum, a black choker for a bow tie hair clip, and accessorizing with dainty jewelry and feminine nail polish. The ballet slippers are a must, and Repetto (a genuine ballet slipper vendor) has the best on the market. Let's get twirling! 5, 6, 7, 8…

  1. Could not agree more! I always wished I had continued with ballet, if not for eternally perfect posture then certainly for the dreamy dance attire! Degas is one of my favorite artists as well. He's my first stop whenever I'm at the MET!
