It turns out recurring themes don't just come up in AP English class. There's been a recurring theme in my life for the past couple of years. And guess what? It's a dress.
During tenth grade, when I dove into the world of Gossip Girl on Netflix, my inevitable fashion-crush on Blair Waldorf began. In the seventh episode of the first season, Queen B wore a frock that I fell in love with at first sight. The lacy, long-sleeved sea foam green number with a ruffly neck and sleeves featured black trim on the neck and arms, complete with a thin, black bow belted at the waist. I was smitten. The picture of the dress remained clear in my mind, along with dozens of screenshots saved onto my computer's desktop.
Months later, on a Tumblr-filled afternoon, I came across a stunning, black and white photograph of Elle Fanning clad in a piece that instantly reminded me of the coveted Blair Waldorf dress. After some research on Style.com, I came to find that the dress was from Valentino's Spring 2011 collection. Seeing it in color definitely caused some drooling. The garment was absolutely stunning, from the sheer nude fabric to the teeny flower appliqués and bow-tied waistline. I decided it would be the older sister to Blair's dress.
And whaddya know… Another sibling to the dress appeared on an afternoon while scouring ASOS. It was Boutique by Jaeger, it was polka dotted, and it was perfect. Unfortunately this discovery happened some months ago, so the spotted piece isn't for sale, but (to my excitement) the silhouette is currently being sold in a couple of other prints!
I'm curious to know… Have you had any recurring clothing themes?
