Light Layering

Urban Outfitters Blouse • Brandy Melville Sweater • Madewell Skinny Jeans • Ray Ban Sunglasses • Tiffany & Co. Locket • J.Crew Sandals

With the weather currently in-between summer and fall, chilly mornings become scorching afternoons. Dressing isn't all that easy, so to solve daily outfit dilemmas I've stuck to a pattern of light layering. Here, for example, I paired a loose knit sweater over a thin blouse with some ankle-cut skinnies. The look kept me comfortable all day long.

I've been enjoying photography a lot lately, especially simple portraits. I had an idea to take elements of fashion and beauty that I'm inspired by at the moment and incorporate them into a photo shoot. My sister Sophie was the perfect model. I dressed her in soft pastel knits, cutoff shorts, and delicate jewelry, along with subtle cat eyes and her naturally wavy tresses. The photos truly encapsulate some of my current favorite things.

A Touch of Tulle

Madewell Top • J.Crew Belt & Pants • Kate Spade Pumps

My family had dinner with friends to celebrate the holiday this weekend and I tried to keep my outfit nice but not too fancy. This tulle-topped tee transforms a typical grey t-shirt into a dressier piece. I paired it with my favorite black cropped pants, a leopard print belt for some pattern, and heels of an appropriate height, all perfect for the occasion.

Sweety Gigi

I've been a fan of Wool and the Gang for quite a while, their knitting kits are the absolute best. My most recent knitting project was their Sweety Gigi Bra Kit and it came out wonderfully. The top is made from a super soft Peruvian cotton in a lovely color called 'naked blue'. It also perfectly fits into the current crop-top trend. The kit came with dark grey yarn to knit a second bra and I can't wait to make another one!

Spotted Skinnies

James Perse Tee • J.crew Cardigan • BP Nordstrom Jeans • Kate Spade Mary Janes

Printed jeans are all the rage right now, from teal leopard print to a wide range of florals. Personally I like pieces that aren't as loud, ones that I can wear often and not have them be "those crazy pants". I was excited when I spotted these polka dotted skinnies. They're noticeable but not over-the-top and perfect for school.

Fashion's Night Out

To say this year's Fashion's Night Out was fun is an understatement. My friend Natalie and I celebrated by spending the evening in Beverly Hills on Melrose and Robertson. From eating salted caramel macaroons at Marc Jacobs to getting glitter tattoos at Alice and Olivia, we had a total blast. Here are some of the highlights!

Our night started at Theory where the FNO t-shirts were being sold. I chose the black and white graphic tee and was happy to find out that forty percent of its proceeds go to the New York City AIDS Fund.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs shop was buzzing with a fun crowd. We had our photo taken and browsed the adorable selection of clothes. I especially loved this metallic collared sweater, it's such a unique piece!

3.1 Phillip Lim was the icing on the cake. Refinery29 hosted the comic book themed event and we were lucky to meet the lovely Los Angeles editor Brenna Egan. We looked at graphic clothes and took some silly pictures on Instagram that printed through the cool "Printsamatic" machine. The night was so inspiring and I'm already looking forward to next year!

Photo Crush

All images via Pari Dukovic

I was instantly attracted to Pari Dukovic's photography after seeing his work in the fall fashion issue of New York Magazine. He has quite a unique approach to photography; most of his photos are extremely grainy and blurred. These qualities are not often seen in photography but he uses them to his advantage to make the images more interesting and memorable. I'm very inspired by his work and am looking forward to seeing more of it.

I've always loved the colors of the beach. The different hues of blue in the sky and ocean and the off-white and brown tones in the sand are so beautiful. On a quick trip to the San Francisco Bay beach this weekend I found myself coincidentally dressed in the colors of seaside. The pastel blue of my sweater, creme lace of my dress, and brown bag and sandals complimented the beach's hues wonderfully.
