Flats & Croquis

I'm officially a (part-time) RISD Student; the Pre-College Summer Program has begun! Since this past Sunday I've been heavily immersed in art. My fashion design class is rigorous, but I'm enjoying spending time working at a craft that I love.

The first assignment was based on an outfit from my closet. I had to choose two garments and create "flats" and a "croquis". Flats are technical drawings used to show the basic shape and details of clothing, and a croquis is a model that displays the pieces with personality. The outfit I ended up choosing is one I blogged last year, and I'm very happy with how my final drawings turned out!

I'm Off!

Summer has officially begun! I'm excited to announce that I'll be spending my break at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design). I'll be attending the Pre-College Summer Program, with a major in fashion design, for six weeks. My goal is to continue blogging throughout my mini art school experience; hopefully that will work out! Until then, I'm off!

June Gloom

Madras Top • J.crew Army Pants and Sandals • Marc by Marc Jacobs Handbag

School is almost out which is a tease for summer, yet the California June gloom is still in full gear. It's that last stretch of cold and foggy weather before the sun makes its debut appearance. In this weather I feel like it's silly to dress in a full-on summer outfit; the bright sundress and wedges will have to wait. Until then it's still possible to achieve a somewhat summery look by wearing a floral blouse, army pants and sandals!

Little White Dress

Free People Dress • American Apparel Slip
Levis Jean Jacket • Dolce Vita Boots

In addition to a LBD, I also think a little white dress is a great staple piece. I'm loving this LWD from Free People, it's on the bohemian side which is a change from my typical classic ways. What I particularly like about this dress is that it can be styled for just about any occasion. I recently wore it to my sister's dance recital with some strappy sandals and a cardigan. But for school, it's easy to dress it down by pairing it with a denim jacket and boots!
