Under the Sea

Chanel Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear

The beautiful Chanel show this season reminded me of my fondness for the ocean. Each look was unique, very much like the creatures and vegetation living under the sea. Interesting patterns and textures mixed with delicate baby blue and seafoam green colors made me nostalgic for the summer. The beauty looks were exquisite, featuring messy low buns pinned with pearl accents. Just when one would think this show couldn't get any more imaginative, flattened pearl-like stickers were placed down the spine of each model giving a sense of intrigue. The show gave me so much inspiration that I created a collage of sea-like items!

I'm a tad obsessed with my new Madewell dress, in fact it was worn two days in a row after purchasing which is evidence enough. The bright royal blue hue is a fun new color to add into my closet, distinguishable from my typical navy blue clothes. The polka dots, gradually increasing in size, are a nice update from a regular spotted item. Paired with other blue pieces including a J.crew headband and dark blue Converse, this monochromatic outfit is a fun jump into spring!

Here Comes the Sun

With spring on its way, the weather is getting warmer and the sun brighter. Bold, statement sunglasses are the perfect accessory to transition into the new season. Not only do these retro shades keep your eyes protected from the sun, but they add a fun flare to any outfit. I love the collection currently being sold by Elizabeth and James, filled with rhinestone cat eyes and coral colored frames. These designer shades are pricy for a girl my age, and I discovered that ASOS sells affordable pieces equally as cute!

P.S. I made a Tumblr for my photography, you can check it out here!

DIY Flower Headband and Barrette

When I saw a DIY Flower Barrette post on Teen Vogue's website, I was instantly inspired. I tried the project out, interpreting it in my own way by creating both a flower adorned barrette and headband. The barrette is a more wearable piece and the headband definitely a bolder statement. Either way, they're always great for dress up! Making these accessories was a fun project I would definitely recommend it. Here's how you can try it out yourself in just three easy steps!

What you'll need: fake flowers, a plastic barrette and headband, a nail file, scissors, and a glue gun.

Step 1: Use the nail file to scratch the glossy finish off of the barrette and headband. This will help make the hot glue stick to the surfaces more easily.

Step 2: Cut off the stems. Keep in mind you may need to leave some stem on the flower so it doesn't fall apart.

Step 3: Make dots of glue with the glue gun on the barrette/headband and press the flowers down onto the glue. The method of attaching the flowers I used was by sticking two flowers down with their backs towards one another. This made it so that the hair accessories will look good from the front and back.

And you're done! This DIY project is very simple and produces beautiful hair accessories!

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear? Absolute perfection. Delicate eyelet cutouts, three dimensional flowers, retro-modern mules, and rhinestone tiaras make this collection unforgettable. From far away the pieces are stunning, but the details show that there's more jaw-dropping beauty up close. When I saw the white, pink, and red pieces in the collection they reminded me that Valentine's Day is coming up soon. How are you planning on spending the romantic holiday?
