Bye Bye Birdie

First off, let me apologize and say that I know I haven't posted in a really long time. I deeply apologize, and I really have to start trying to post as often as I can.

These are pictures I took in a photography class I'm taking outside of school, and I am extremely proud of them! We were practicing with using different sources of light, and learning about shadow. I was really drawn to this bird because it seems like it should be very peaceful and graceful, like a dove, yet it's missing an eye and there's red paint on it's belly. The yellow tone of the photos wasn't intended, but I think it gives them a neat look! xo Ella

"Shorts in this weather?!" "You must be freezing!" "Really, Ella?"

Sweater - APC aka dad's old sweater
Shorts - Madewell
Moccasins - Urban Outfitters
Nailpolish - Deborah Lippmann in Fashion and Today Was a Fairytale

Just few of the many comments I got today questioning my choice of clothing today. Little did I know when I picked out my outfit last night that it would be so cold today. I couldn't resist wearing my new shorts though. I got them from Madewell for the holidays and I still can't decide whether they're lace or eyelet. What do you think?

In addition to the comments about the shorts, one girl told me that I looked very "indie" today, saying it with positivity. The term indie used to bother me, until I did some thinking and came to the conclusion that it means unique, and something that is different then the norm. It used to frustrate me when people would say that someone's Facebook profile picture is indie, or a clique at school is indie, or her outfit is so indie, but now I can understand why people use the word.

Hoping I can finish my homework in time to watch Pretty Little Liars tonight, it's such a great show. While I watch it I'm either hiding behind the pillow at the suspenseful parts, or drooling over Ian Harding, who plays Mr. Fitz!xo Ella

It's Gonna Be a Happy New Year

Top - Urban Outfitters
Jacket - Topshop
Jeans - Levi's aka handmedowns from mom
Ballet Flats - Bloch

Happy 2011! I'm so ecstatic that a new year has finally come, because I feel it's a new beginning for me. I enjoy starting fresh, and the new year is the best time to do that! My new year's resolution this year is to try to be less judgmental of myself and others. I'd also like to start walking my dog more and flossing my teeth every day.

I'm really thrilled that I've finally been able to achieve the milkmaid braid hairstyle, I have attempted it a few times and was never successful. Thanks to a video made by The Haute Pursuit that you can watch here and Cupcake and Cashmere's how to instructions found here, I did it without frustration.

Referring to the title, it's one of the many genius songs from Rent. I've been so obsessed with it lately, since I recently saw a production of it at a friend's school. The music is amazing, and it always finds a way to get stuck in my head! xo Ella
